Walsin Lihwa and community volunteers welcomed the elderly residents with smiles as they took their seats, ready to begin a lunch gathering filled with warmth, care, and familiar companionship. In the neighborhoods surrounding Yenshui, local communities have long recognized the challenges many elderly residents face in preparing their daily meals. To support them, the "Senior Meal Service" has been carried out on a long-term basis, providing hot and nutritionally balanced meals at the activity center five days a week. The program brings neighbors together to share meals, companionship, and a sense of community.
Beyond providing financial support, Walsin Lihwa also stepped into the community as corporate volunteers, working alongside local residents to prepare and serve meals. Through hands-on participation, Walsin Lihwa brought warmth to everyday life, turning a simple shared meal into a meaningful connection between hearts.

Eco-Friendly Farming – Supporting Local Agriculture
Since 2021, Walsin has implemented a contract farming program for Taiwan native organic kiwifruit, partnering with local young farmers to engage in sustainable cultivation through environmentally friendly farming practices. Through a contract adoption mechanism, the program supports farmers in maintaining stable production while jointly sharing climate-related risks. GO Green! Walsin Lihwa Green Life – Vegetarian Day × Green Market × Green Handcraft
November 25 marks International Vegetarian Day. To celebrate the occasion, Walsin Lihwa organized Walsin Lihwa Green Living Day, a series of activities designed to encourage employees to experience the benefits of healthy eating and sustainable living.
Vegetarian Day activities were held across Walsin Lihwa's sites in Taiwan. At the same time, the Taipei headquarters hosted an Organic Market, inviting local small-scale farmers and artisan brands to offer fresh fruits and vegetables as well as specialty agricultural products. A Green Food DIY Workshop was also held, where employees learned to make shan-su pearls, an Indigenous edible fern, while gaining a deeper understanding of Indigenous ingredients and culture.
Through these activities, employees were able not only to enjoy healthier meals and purchase trusted, locally sourced ingredients, but also to take part in hands-on environmental and cultural experiences. The initiative brought the idea of green living into everyday life-through every meal and every interaction.
Environmental Education Lectures
In 2024, Walsin Lihwa sponsored the first "Seeing the Environment Living Festival" organized by the Chi Po-lin Foundation. Through visual storytelling and arts performances, the festival documented environmental change and promoted the beauty of sustainable living through action. In 2025, the Company further extended this engagement through an internal lecture inspired by the original vision behind the documentary Beyond Beauty: Taiwan from Above. The lecture shared Director Chi Po-lin's deep care for Taiwan's land and his sense of mission, while using extensive aerial footage to guide 154 participating employees in understanding Taiwan's current environmental conditions and challenges from a different perspective.
Through these images, participants saw not only lush green rice fields, snow-capped Mount Jade, and deep blue seas, but also bare yellow-brown mountainsides left behind by human development and natural disasters, gray concrete wave breakers and roads, and coastlines fragmented by ports. Together, these scenes revealed the growth and transformation of the island of Taiwan. Environmental education is concerned not only with the land itself, but also with the impact of human activity on the environment. When we take the time to truly observe and reflect, each of us can find our own meaningful way to care for the land.
On May 22, the International Day for Biological Diversity, Walsin Lihwa invited its long-term organic contract farming partner, Jianghao Farm, to share the story of kiwi cultivation and the rich natural ecosystem within its orchard with 124 employees who attended the lecture. The speaker explained that kiwifruit is not only highly nutritious, but also a deep-rooted crop that helps support soil and water conservation. At the same time, its cultivation is facing growing challenges amid climate change.
The farm owner also brought the orchard's diverse plant and animal life vividly to life, jokingly describing the land as "nature's buffet," where a wide variety of species coexist freely. Although some of these species may affect crop yields, the farm remains committed to operating in a land-friendly and organic manner. Through this approach, it puts the idea of living in harmony with the environment into practice and contributes to the protection of biodiversity.
To deepen employees' understanding of nature conservation and ecological sustainability, Walsin Lihwa organized a screening and sharing session for the documentary The Hidden Life of Trees as part of its annual sustainability initiatives. The documentary was viewed online by a cumulative total of 1,098 participants. Centered on the symbiotic relationship between trees and ecosystems, the film highlights the vital role of forests in climate regulation, biodiversity, and environmental resilience, encouraging participants to reconsider the connection between people and nature from both scientific and humanistic perspectives. The Walsin Lihwa Sustainability Foundation organized five private screenings of Save Our Planet across Taiwan, along with meet-and-greet sessions with the director. Held from northern to southern Taiwan, the events brought together partners and members of the public who share a concern for environmental and sustainability issues, attracting a total of 1,082 participants. Through the documentary's powerful visual storytelling and first-hand insights from the filmmaker, audiences gained a deeper understanding of the far-reaching impacts of climate change on global ecosystems, biodiversity, and human life, prompting greater awareness and reflection on environmental issues.
The initiative went beyond the screening itself. Through post-screening discussions and exchanges, participants were encouraged to reflect on the roles and responsibilities of individuals and businesses in advancing sustainable development. By starting with a deeper understanding of the issues, the events helped build momentum for change. Deepening Local Roots and Care for the Land Private Screenings of Where the Bees Belong, The Elimination, and Solar Power Revelation
The Walsin Lihwa Sustainability Foundation partnered with the Chi Po-lin Foundation to host private screenings of three documentaries focused on local ecological issues in Taiwan: Where the Bees Belong, "The Elimination", and "Solar Power Revelation"-The screenings attracted a total of 150 participants. Through visual storytelling, the films invited audiences to reflect on the relationship between human activities and the natural environment, while deepening their understanding of contemporary ecological challenges.
The three documentaries approach environmental issues from different perspectives, covering themes related to biodiversity conservation and energy transition. Where the Bees Belong and The Elimination use indicator species such as bees and frogs as entry points to show how habitat degradation can trigger cascading impacts across ecosystems, underscoring the urgency of species conservation. Solar Power Revelation, meanwhile, focuses on the environmental impacts that may arise during the development of renewable energy, encouraging audiences to consider how environmental protection and development can be balanced in the process of energy transition.

Newspaper Reading Education and Bilingual Reading Program
Walsin has long collaborated with the Mandarin Daily News to sponsor newspaper reading education programs for elementary schools in counties and cities where Taiwan plants are located. Teachers lead students in learning about newspaper content while expanding their horizons through interactive discussions. In addition, the Walsin Lihwa Sustainability Foundation has partnered with PSA Charitable Foundation and the Mandarin Daily News to jointly advance a bilingual reading and newspaper education program for junior high school students. Through the bilingual Chinese-English content in the Mandarin Daily News's Youth Journal', the program helps students improve their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in both Chinese and English, and fosters their interest in reading and international affairs.

In April and November 2025, approximately 30 Walsin volunteers visited Yuejin Elementary School in Yenshui District, Tainan City, and Xinghua Elementary School in Hsinchuang District, New Taipei City, to hold a newspaper reading challenge for students. The activity incorporated a series of interactive stations covering mathematics, Mandarin, social studies, environmentally friendly stainless steel tableware, electrical safety, and everyday knowledge. Guided attentively by the volunteers, the children completed each challenge with enthusiasm. At the end of the activity, the students eagerly shared what they had learned and expressed their appreciation to the volunteers for the meaningful and engaging experience. Through the challenge-based reading games, the program not only sparked students' interest in reading, but also planted the seeds of curiosity and opened a door for them to explore the wider world.

The Walsin Lihwa Sustainability Foundation works in collaboration with Taiwan's plant locations - including the Taipei Head Office, the Hsinchuang plant in New Taipei City, the Yangmei plant in Taoyuan City, the Taichung plant, and the Yenshui plant in Tainan City. In addition to supporting local community cleanup and disinfection efforts and providing care for environmental volunteer teams, the Foundation continues to give back to the community by adopting and maintaining nearby roads, drainage channels, and parks for cleaning, greening, and beautification, thereby providing residents with a high-quality living environment.
- Taipei Headquarters: Walsin Lihwa has adopted the sidewalks and green belts around Songzhi Park, an effort that earned the Company recognition from the Taipei City Government as a model adopter of green resources and trees.
- Hsinchuang Plant: Walsin Lihwa continues to care for the triangular green space near the plant, while regularly pruning and maintaining trees along the plant's perimeter.
- Yangmei Plant: Since 2015, Walsin Lihwa has maintained the landscape green space at the intersection of Gaoshi Road and Meigao Road and conducted monthly cleanup activities along Gaoshi Road, earning recognition from the Yangmei District Office.
- Taichung Plant: Walsin Lihwa maintains the pedestrian walkway, green belts, vegetation, and street trees along Jingsan Road near the plant. Since 2018, the Company has supported the Taichung City Government's Air Quality Purification Zone initiative by adopting areas along the Dongfeng Green Bikeway and Phase I and Phase II of Liyuan Park in Taiping District. In 2025, its adoption efforts were recognized with an "Excellent" rating from the Ministry of Environment for Liyuan Park Phase II, and "Outstanding" and "Excellent" ratings from the Taichung City Environmental Protection Bureau for Liyuan Park Phase I and the Dongfeng Green Bikeway, respectively.
- Yenshui Plant: Since 2014, Walsin Lihwa has maintained roadside trees and cleanliness along County Road South 80, carried out drainage channel maintenance and dredging on the north side of County Road South 74, and helped care for three nearby community parks. Yenshui, Tainan, best known for its Beehive Fireworks Festival, was once Taiwan's fourth-largest city. Indonesia Morowali Industrial Park (IMIP) Community Care Initiative
Walsin Nickel's presence in Indonesia is not only focused on industrial development, but also on caring for the communities surrounding its operations. In January 2025, Walsin Nickel participated in a community care initiative organized by the Indonesia Morowali Industrial Park (IMIP) ESG Foundation. The initiative provided support to elderly residents, single-parent families, low-income households, and orphanages across 12 communities near the industrial park. More than 50 volunteers took part, distributing 700 care packages to local residents.
On the day of the event, volunteers visited Siumbatu Village, Dampala Village, and Lele Village, where they engaged with residents to better understand local living conditions. They also distributed daily necessities such as rice, cooking oil, salt, and sugar, delivering the Company's care directly into the hands of community members. Walsin Nickel Support World Cleanup Day Partnering with Local Community to Build a Sustainable Home
In support of World Cleanup Day, Walsin Nickel Industries Indonesia (WNII) joined hands with Indonesia Morowali Industrial Park (IMIP), the Bahodopi Town Government, and several companies within the industrial park to take part in an environmental public welfare activity on September 21, 2025. More than 700 volunteers participated enthusiastically in the event, including government representatives, industrial park partners, and local community members. Working in groups, the volunteers cleaned streets, waterways, and public spaces, while also sorting and recycling waste. Their collective efforts helped refresh the surrounding villages and, through hands-on participation, raised environmental awareness and encouraged greener everyday habits. Opening of IMIP Polytechnic of Metal Industry and Junior High School Further Strengthening the Local Education System
On July 31, 2025, the IMIP Foundation, together with the local government, held the opening ceremony for the IMIP Polytechnic of Metal Industry and a junior high school. Representatives from Walsin Nickel Industries Indonesia (WNII) attended the ceremony to witness this important milestone in local education. The IMIP Polytechnic of Metal Industry has enrolled approximately 500 students and currently offers specialized programs in mineral chemical technology, mechanical automation technology, and electrical engineering installation. The school is dedicated to cultivating the skilled talent needed by local industries. The newly completed IMIP Junior High School can accommodate 360 students and is equipped with comprehensive facilities, including classrooms, laboratories, a library, sports grounds, a prayer room, and a cafeteria. Modern teaching equipment such as computers and projectors has also been installed to provide students with a diverse and supportive learning environment.

Walsin Nickel Industries Indonesia (WNII) participated in a donation program organized by the IMIP Foundation at the Lami Lu Orphanage in Central Sulawesi, Indonesia, on July 28, 2025, marking the launch of the "Cuti Kasih Sayang" program. The IMIP Foundation's "Cuti Kasih Sayang" program will continue to be expanded across Central Sulawesi. Walsin Lihwa assisted Fu Jen Catholic University Hospital in acquiring a 'transesophageal echocardiography' device, which can provide rapid and precise cardiac imaging when patients are unconscious, have unstable blood pressure, or are intubated, helping clinical teams make immediate decisions and seize the critical window for rescue. At 8:30 PM on March 22, 2025, Walsin Lihwa's headquarters building joined more than 18,000 landmarks around the world in supporting Earth Hour by switching off its lights for one hour. Earth Hour is the world's largest annual sustainability and energy-saving movement.
